  4.                            DESCRIPTION

  6. An easy to use tax preparation system suitable for both individuals and
  7. paid tax preparers.  Features pull-down menus, mouse support, on-line help
  8. and automatic installation.  Enter data in any order at any time, and
  9. instantly see the effect of changes on your tax due.  Each return is
  10. automatically stored in a separate file to facilitate copying and
  11. archiving.  A sample return is included to get you off to a fast start.

  13. Prints IRS-approved high-quality graphic Form 1040 on LaserJet, DeskJet,
  14. IBM ProPrinter and Epson FX and LQ printers.  Prints IRS-approved
  15. substitute forms for all other forms on any printer.

  17. Includes the following Forms and Schedules: 1040, A, B, C, D, E, EIC, F, R,
  18. SE, 2106, 2119, 2210, 2441, 3903, 4137, 4562, 6251, 8606, 8615, 8829.

  73. If you are having a problem and there is no one to personally answer your
  74. call, please leave your name and phone number.  Someone will get back to
  75. you as soon as possible.  Please also briefly DESCRIBE your PROBLEM.  Many
  76. times a quick reply to your answering machine is all it takes, thus
  77. avoiding telephone tag.

  79. To send a FAX, just press your SEND key.  If for some reason that does
  80. not work, then press "77#" anytime after the voice answer to activate
  81. the FAX.

  83. Share-TAX/1040 will be uploaded (under file name "STAX\Y.ZIP") to
  84. Compuserve, America-Online, etc., and to one or more nationwide BBS
  85. networks.  It will also be distributed to all ASP (Associan of Shareware
  86. Professionals) shareware dealers and BBS's.  Therefore, it is likely
  87. that you can purchase a diskette locally, or can download the program
  88. from a BBS local to you.

  91.                        Using the INSTALL Program
  92.  
  93. If you received the program from a shareware distributor in "packed" form,
  94. you must first "unpack" it according to their instructions (the fact that
  95. you are reading this means either that you must have already done so, or
  96. you did not receive it in packed format).
  97.  
  98. Place the original diskette (or diskette containing unpacked files) in drive
  99. "A:" or "B:".  Then at the DOS prompt, type "A:INSTALL" or "B:INSTALL",
  100. respectively, and answer the questions.

  102.                    IF YOU HAVE A MONOCHROME SCREEN
  103.  
  104. If you have a monochrome screen and you have difficulty reading it, start
  105. the program in monochrome mode by running with the /B option (run it by
  106. typing "STAX94 /B" at the DOS prompt).  This may not be necessary with all
  107. monochrome screens, but is likely to be quite necessary with some laptops. 
  108. You should then select "monochrome" on the COLOR screen, and next time you
  109. run the program it will remember your preferences without typing the "/B".

  111.                    OLDER COMPUTERS WITHOUT A MOUSE
  112.  
  113. If your DOS is 3.0 or later, then the program checks to see if you have a
  114. mouse.  If you want the program to assume that you do not have a mouse, and
  115. to not even check for one, run it with the /N option (Example, at the DOS
  116. prompt type: "STAX94 /N").
  117.  
  118. For DOS earlier than 3.0, the program assumes that you do not have a mouse
  119. and will not even check for one.  The reason is that some older computers
  120. will hang with a blank screen when the program checks for a mouse.  If in
  121. this case you do have a mouse, run the program with tne /M option (Example,
  122. at the DOS prompt type: "STAX94 /M").

  126. Complete documentation is in file STAX94.MAN, which is best viewed or
  127. printed while running the program.  Select the "About/View Manual" or
  128. "Print/Print Manual" pull-down menu functions.
